Will There Be a Nothing Phone (1) Lite Coming Soon?
Nothing finally launched its much-hyped, much controversial phone (1) last month. And now, we are hearing information on another Nothing smartphone, which may be called the Nothing phone (1) Lite. However, is this a likable situation? Let us find out.
A recent report by The Mobile Indian suggests that Nothing will launch a phone (1) Lite, which as the name suggests, will be a toned-down variant of the phone (1). The differences will be two. For one, the phone is expected to sport a plain glass back without the LEDs and the Glyph Interface. Secondly, it won’t support wireless charging. This might prove to be a drastic move for the design is what sets the phone (1) apart from the competition.
The internals, as per the report, is expected to be the same. Hence, the rumored Nothing phone (1) Lite is said to have the same 6.55-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 778G+ chipset, and dual 50MP rear cameras.
However, it is speculated to come with a bigger 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging and a 42W adaptor. The phone is also expected to be slightly inexpensive (owing to the compromises) and could have a starting price of Rs 24,999 and may launch during the festive season in India.
If you are already too excited about Nothing’s second phone, you should know that this may remain a rumor. The report also reveals that the Carl Pei-led company has denied this information and nothing of this sort will happen. Since Nothing has usually taken the responsibility of “leaking” information about its products, it’s unlikely that it will lie about an upcoming phone. Or maybe, it currently wants to conceal information on its future products to keep the phone (1) hype alive.
Whatever the case is, we can assume that another Nothing phone won’t launch anytime soon and whenever this will happen, we are sure Nothing will spill the beans on its own! And we hope it comes with refinements too. We will let you know about such details as and when they come. So, stay tuned. Also, would you like a cheaper Nothing phone (1) without the LEDs? Nothing garnered a lot of attention with its first smartphone, the Nothing Phone 1. It’s quite evident that the phone’s Glyph Interface (aka the flashing lights on the back) differentiates it from any other handset on the market. However, those flashing lights may not be present on the company’s next smartphone. Yes, you read it right — Nothing’s next phone might miss out on the biggest selling feature of the Nothing Phone 1. At least, that’s according to a new report from The Mobile Indian.
The report details that the rumored phone will be a Lite version of the Nothing Phone 1. At the moment, there’s no word about the name of this device. But it could be called Phone 1 Lite since it is supposed to be a slightly toned-down version. Surprisingly, Nothing isn’t expected to trim down on the hardware of this device. As indicated, the rumored phone will pack the same display, processor, and cameras.
So, what is Nothing’s upcoming phone supposed to miss out on? The Glyph Interface will be replaced by a plain glass back. Plus, it won’t get support for wireless charging. To compensate, Nothing may add a 44W charger in the box, something that was not present in Phone 1’s box. That said, the phone is expected to support 33W charging like the current Nothing Phone 1.
Although uncertain, the rumored Nothing Phone 1 Lite may get up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Other than this, the device may get a bigger 5000mAh. The rest of the specs are supposed to remain similar to the Nothing Phone 1. So we are likely to see a 6.55-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It could be powered by the Snapdragon 778G+ chipset. The camera system may include 50-megapixel dual rear cameras and a 16MP camera for selfies. Moreover, the phone could offer Android 12 with NothingOS on top, plus IP53 splash resistance.
The Mobile Indian reached out to Nothing for a comment on this rumored phone, and in response, Nothing denied the existence of any such phone. That could be a legitimate statement, or Nothing may just be remaining tight-lipped until it’s ready to unveil the supposed Nothing Phone 1 Lite itself. In the meantime, take this one with a grain of salt.
Editors' RecommendationsRumored Nothing Phone (1) Lite with plain glass back and 5000mAh battery is not in the works
Last month we saw the introduction and the release of the Nothing Phone (1), the brainchild of former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei who left OnePlus to start anew with Nothing. The company's first product, as you might already know, was the Nothing ear (1), a pair of true wireless stereo earbuds. And while it is way too early to judge whether the Nothing Phone (1) has been a success, there is already a rumor involving a second handset for the company. The word on the street, according to The Mobile Indian, is that Nothing is working on a lite version of the Nothing Phone (1) that would be mostly the same as the regular version except it would be minus the fancy rear LED Glyph lighting system that lights up the back of the device when there is an incoming call or notification. The lite version, ironically, will not sport lights on the rear and the device would carry a plain glass back instead. While the Nothing Phone (1) Lite would still support 33W fast charging, the phone would ship with a 42W charger according to one source. However, the rumor calls for no wireless charging capabilities for the lite model.According to a rumor, the Nothing Phone (1) Lite would replace the LCD Glyph lighting with an ordinart glass back
Nothing denies that such a phone is being developed (more on that below). Rumored pricing for the Nothing Phone (1) Lite calls for the device to be cheaper than the regular variant of the handset. Pricing would start at the equivalent of $308 (remember, the Nothing Phone (1) is not available in the states) compared to the approximate price of $417 for the current model.
Other changes include the inclusion of 6GB of memory compared to 8GB on the regular version. And without the LCD Glyph lighting system and the wireless charging gear on the back of the phone, the lite model will reportedly have enough internal space to carry a larger 5000mAh battery compared to 4500mAh on the current model.
The rest of the Nothing Phone (1) Lite's specs would pretty much ape the model that has been released. The latter comes with a 6.55-inch OLED panel with an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 and a 60-120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood is the Snapdragon 778G+ chipset.
The Nothing Phone (1) Lite is nothing more than a rumor right now, and the fact that Nothing has denied its existence is a big deal. After all, the company has been transparent with CEO Pei doing most of the leaking to the media when it came to both the Nothing ear (1) and Nothing Phone (1). So when the company says that there is no Lite variant in the pipeline, we believe that nothing is coming.
